Citymesh and Accelleran Partner to Trial Open RAN-Based Densification for Public Networks Deployment
Belgian partnership marks a strategic move toward commercial-
grade 5G small cell deployments in urban areas
Citymesh and Accelleran are undertaking a joint trial of Open RAN technology to increase the density of 5G networks in urban environments. Starting with lab validation and moving into a large field trial over more than 20 sites, the programme is structured as a rollout, with a clear path toward commercial application. The work is being carried out in Belgium and reflects a shared focus on building real-world, high-performance networks using open and adaptable technology.

Field deployments are expected to begin in the Brussels region, with the setup designed to scale across additional urban areas as requirements grow.
“This programme is an important move for both companies,” said Erhan Kilic, Chief Sales Officer at Accelleran. “Together we are addressing real network demands in urban areas, using Open RAN as part of a wider approach to densification and service delivery.”
“Smart densification using the latest radio technology is key to our strategy of making a real impact in dense urban environments, while establishing ourselves as an innovative operator with state-of-the-art solutions. By leveraging O-RAN we expect to enable futureproof applications for first responders, temporary events, public transport and enterprise users” says Robin Leblon, CTO at Citymesh.
